Albums
The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and several compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed the members of the group played sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their previous efforts and was criticized for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned, and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band dug through old tapes and recordings to create the unique record. The album was well-received by fans, and the band embarked upon the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
